Binod Shrestha of Gulf Air defeated Bishal Shah of Himalayan Bank 5-0 in the final of the first Corporate Snooker Tournament. Shrestha recieved Rs 20,000 and Shah bagged Rs 10,000. Shrestha also got Rs 5,000 for the highest break of 39 points. Shrestha, who dominated Shah in five consecutive sets, won 57-31, 68-29, 59-45, 55-24, 69-7 in the best-of-nine final.
“The overall response was very positive and we will definitely continue this event in coming years,” said Senon D Lama, chairman of Hotel Shahanshah International Pvt Ltd. Lama said he got the idea of organising this event after conducting an Inter-media House Bowling Tournament last year.
In all, 48 participants, with two senior most participants — Mohammed Zainal of Gulf Air and Bishnu Bahadur Adhikari of Sagarmatha Insurance — played in the tournament, which was participated in by 24 corporate houses. Ravin Lama, Managing Director of International Media Network Nepal Pvt Ltd, and Senon D Lama gave away prizes to the winners. Rakesh Adukia, MD of Krishi Premura, and Gautam Mallik, General Manager of McDowell Nepal, were also present at the ceremony. The eight-day event was organised by Annapurna Post in association with Hotel Shahanshah International Pvt Ltd.
