The second day of 9th National Education and Book Fair-2005 witnessed a huge mass of visitors. Especially youths throng the exhibition in search of good colleges and overseas studies consultants for higher studies. Organised by Global Exposition and Management Services Pvt Ltd (GEMS) in cooperation with the National Booksellers and Publisher Association
of Nepal, the nine-day long education-cum-book fair has started yesterday at the Bhrikuti Mandap Exhibition Hall. “The participation is overwhelming and over 25,000 visitors, especially young students visited the fair in two days,” said Khagendra Baral, manager of GEMS. The event has been divided in two sections, the Education and Career Section and the book fair.
Exhibitors at the country’s mega educational fair-cum-book exhibition were busy promoting their products and services throughout the day. They termed the event as a platform for direct interaction with students and parents as well as promotion of their products and services. “The fair has been serving as a platform for exhibitors, students, parents and others. Although return is not satisfactory in comparison to the investment, regular participation has become a phenomenon for keep us going,” said Yogesh Upreti, managing director, American Education Consultancy (AEC). AEC is promoting its regular services like test preparation classes, language and computer training and abroad study consultancy. “We received more queries about abroad study,” he said. The trend of going abroad for higher studies is in boom and the number of consultancy institutes is also mushrooming. “Hospitality, management, IT and engineering are major disciplines that majority of the Nepali students are opting to study abroad.”
