KATHMANDU: The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) today lamented the closure of industries nationwide by All Nepal Trade Union Federation (ANTUF). The umbrella organisation of Nepali private sector had yesterday urged the ANTUF not to close down factories and industries but to no avail. The union’s strike follows the murder of its central member Ramayodhi Yadhav, who was shot dead on March 26 in Siraha’s Rampurbirta VDC. Issuing a press release here today, FNCCI deplored the incident and said such incidents should not recur in future. It further said that the economic condition of the country is already in bad shape and any strike in the industrial sector would badly hurt the economy. The FNCCI had yesterday condemned the murder of ANTUF’s central member Yadhav assuring of their support in the union’s bid except for the closure of the industries. It had also asked the government to take prompt and stringent action against the culprits. The FNCCI had also appealed to ANTUF not to shut down industries arguing that such a move will not affect the criminals but the general public and the domestic economy. Meanwhile, industry, factories and commercial institutions in Morang remained shut throughout the day today. Maoist cadres staged protests at different locations of the district demanding action against the culprits. Some 500 industries and factories in Sunsari and Morang also remained shut today.
