KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu District Court today released a lesbian cop Ramina Hussain on bail. A bench of judge Lekhnath Ghimire issued an order to release her on bail following a hearing today. Hussain, a traffic policewoman, has been facing charges of abducting and detaining a 17-year-old girl Pujan Basnet. A habeas corpus petition has sought an apex court order to release her stating that the authorities have been acting simply because she is a lesbian, while she had been living with Basnet with mutual consent. Accusing the Metropolitan Police Range Hanumandhoka, the Metropolitan Police Sector Sorakhutte and the Kathmandu District Court of detaining her for no reason, chairperson of Blue Diamond Society, Pinky Gurung, alias Sanjeev had filed the petition.
