Seti Zonal Hospital’s ICU to come into operation by June

DHANGADI: Seti Zonal Hospital, Dhangadi, has said an intensive care unit in the hospital will come into operation most probably by June this year. The Kailali chapter of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry had collected Re 1 from each individual and organisation in order to press the government to construct ICU in the hospital. The Ministry of Health and Population had then allocated Rs 10 million to set up an intensive care unit. The construction of the four-bed ICU has gained momentum after the ministry allocated the necessary budget, sources said. According to a hospital source, a contract has been finalised for the construction of physical infrastructure and storehouse with a budget of Rs 3.2 million. Similarly, the hospital authority has also signed another contract with for the supply of necessary equipment, said Dr Ganesh Bahadur Singh of the hospital. “We have completed preliminary works. The construction will begin within a few days,” he claimed. The hospital has also sent at least five staff for training and managed a high voltage electricity line to operate the ICU . Rajesh Bhandari, Vice-chairman of Kailali Chambers of Commerce, said, “The trend of collecting fund for the establishment of the ICU has grown tremendously in the district.”
