HUMLA: Over 200 yaks starved to death in the recent days at Lini VDC of Humla district as heavy snowfall until mid-April damaged grazing areas in the mountain region. The yaks died as they did not get sufficient grass due to snowfall, said Sunam Tenzen, a local. The locals are facing difficulties in grazing their cattle as they were prohibited from using the pasture land in the Nepal-Tibet border area, which they were using in the past, in recent years. Similarly, locals are deprived of different services from the governmental offices as the road sections in the remote parts in the district were blocked.
