KATHMANDU: A moderate earthquake of local magnitude 5.4 hit the Mid-Western Nepal on Saturday evening. According to the National Seismological Centre, it recorded a separate earthquake, not an aftershock of the April 25 earthquake, at 6:08 pm with its epicentre in Rukum district. There were no immediate reports of damage or casualty. According to the NSC, the coordinates of the epicentre are 28.65°N, 82.76°E. This shows that the epicentre was southeast of the district headquarters Musikot, near the Bheri River and outside the western side of Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve. Meanwhile, the NSC recorded a light aftershock of the April 25 at 2:40 am in the wee hours of Saturday with its epicentre between Gorkha and Dhading districts. The tremor was of local magnitude of 4.2. With this, the number of significant aftershocks of the massive ML7.6 earthquake, reached 327. The official death toll of the April 25 earthquake and its aftershocks has reached 8725, while hundreds of people are still missing.
