KAVR: Nepal Disable Helpless Empowerment Centre, a non-government organisation, distributed food items to the quake victims of Anaikot, Panchkhal Municipality, in Kavre on Saturday. NDHEC distributed foodstuff to 50 households, including 37 Dalits. The officials from the organisation handed over relief materials including rice, salt and cooking oil among others to the quake victims. Earlier, NDHEC had distributed relief worth Rs 300,000 to the victims at in Sindhupalchowk. Shankar Prasad Gautam, chairman of NDHEC, said that as many as 2,200 wheelchairs would be distributed to the persons who were disabled in the April 25 disaster in 14 districts of the country. 'The wheelchairs will arrive from the US at the end of this month,' he informed. Injured man dies DAMAULI: Chandra Bahadur Pulami, who was critically injured after being hit by a motorcycle at Byas Municipality on June 12, died while undergoing treatment at Manipal Teaching Hospital in Pokhara on Sunday. The 48-year-old had sustained head injures in the accident. Police said the motorcycle rider was taken under control after the accident while further investigation into the accident was underway. Anti-graft campaign Khotang: Netra Bikram Chand-led CPN Maoist has decided to launch a campaign against corruption and black marketing in Khotang. At a press meet organised to share information about the party’s newly-formed district committee, the CPN Maoist said that it would launch the campaign to eliminate corruption, bribery, hooliganism and black marketing in the district. CPN Maoist district secretary Sailesh said that his party would work in collaboration with the people to wipe out various social ills, including corruption and black marketing. He said that they would not physically punish the people involved in corruption, but hand them over to the people for public prosecution. 'People have been suspecting that we might mete out physical punishment to the culprits as we used to during the armed conflict. However, we shall take the culprits under control and submit them to the people,' said the CPN Maoist leader. The CPN Maoist said that they had to launch the campaign so to stop the trend of budget squandering in the name of politics and NGOs. Sailesh stressed on the need to have healthy political discussions among the parties against the political perversion.
