‘NHRC serious in human rights protection’

NEPALGUNJ: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Spokesperson, Mohana Ansari, has said that NHRC’s role in protection of all sorts of human rights would be in accordance with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. At an interaction programme here on Sunday, Ansari said that the NHRC would submit its report to the government by preparing based on the citizen’s suggestions and studying the objective situation of the districts. Currently, a team of the NHRC is monitoring the human rights situation in the districts of mid and far-western region. On the occasion, the locals drew attention of the NHRC regarding the inundation, and huge loss of property and casualty in Nepali side due to the construction of the high dams from the Indian sites in Nepal-India border areas. In response, Ansari assured the locals that the NHRC would also write to the government in this issue. Likewise, member of the NHRC, Govinda Shara Poudel, said that problem of inundation in the border areas should be resolved through political and diplomatic negotiations.
