Cart vendors removed from highway in Damauli

DAMAULI, July 18 Businesses carried out on carts on the roadsides of Prithvi Highway have been banned in Damauli Bazaar in Tanahun. Businesses on carts along the Buldi Bridge to Ekadev Ale Foundation in the west of Damauli Bazaar have been banned effective from Friday, as per a decision of a meeting among the stakeholders, held a few days ago. Munendra Thapa, in-charge of Tanahun Traffic Police Office, said that they decided to ban cart businesses, as such activities led to increase in road accidents. As many as 26 cart traders had been operating business in the area. Baikuntha Mishra, General Secretary of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry Tanahun chapter, said that they had removed most of the carts, mobile shops and other traders from the highway. Damauli Bazaar Unit Chairman of FNCCI Krishna Acharya said the ban was expected to reduce road accidents and ease people’s movement on the highway as well as the bazaar area. National Consumers’ Forum Tanahun Chairman Khemraj Adhikari said work to widen the highway also had been started.
