KATHMANDU: Japan today welcomed endorsement of Nepal’s new Constitution through its Constituent Assembly. “We would like to congratulate the people of Nepal as they marked a new step toward a truly democratic country,” Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida said in a statement issued from Tokyo. Japan hoped to see Nepal’s political stability being secured and the country’s democracy, peace-building and economic development progressing under the new Constitution, Fumio added. He also stated that the Japanese government would continue to work to further develop the Japan-Nepal relationship and to contribute to the stability and prosperity of the entire region. “Japan, as a true friend of Nepal, will continuously assist Nepal as much as possible toward realisation of a better reconstruction of Nepal,” read the statement released today by the Embassy of Japan in Kathmandu.
