Govt briefs donors on budget proposals

The Ministry of Finance, which is in the last stage of preparing the budget for the coming fiscal year, provided information to Nepal’s major donor countries and agencies regarding the topics slated to be incorporated in the budget and also appealed for their cooperation.
Ambassadors of Japan, China, India, the USA, Norway, Germany, Finland, Denmark, Australia,
Korea, the Netherlands, the European Union, Switzerland and the representatives of the United Nations Development Programme and the USAID had taken part in an interaction held by the ministry today. Finance secretary, Bhanu Prasad Acharya, said the budget would increase the participation of the locals to give continuity to the economic programmes and towards fulfillment of the Millennium Development Goals. He said emphasis would be laid to increase investment for restoration of peace and security.
