KATHMANDU: A month-long Aadinath religious fair has kicked off today at Chobhar, on the southern outskirts of Kathmandu. The fair begins from today, the full moon day of the Nepali month Ashwin as per the lunar calendar. It will conclude on the full moon day of the month of Kartik. The Aadinath temple has the combined idol of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parbati and it is known as Ardhanarishwar. The priest of the temple, Saroj Shakya, shared that people throng the temple during this period in the belief that skin and other diseases get cured. Mainly, Hindu and Buddhist followers throng the temple. The Hindus worship the Aadinath as a form of their Lord Shiva and Goddess Shakti, while the Buddhists as the Lokeshwar.
