HETAUNDA: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Kamal Thapa on Sunday termed the unofficial blockade at the Indo-Nepal border points an act of crime. He reasoned that India resorted to blockade as Nepali political parties, civil society and the government did not take steps against India's interests. Addressing a felicitation programme at Makawanpur chapter of Chamber of Commerce and Industry, DPM Thapa said that the 'vengeful' blockade imposed by the Indian government for no apparent reason was a diplomatic interference. Stating that Nepal faced the current regretful scenario for having a one-way transit treaty with India for a long time, DPM Thapa said the government would mount a new step to free the Nepali people of the blockade by holding transit treaty with various governments. The DPM also reiterated the government's eagerness to address the demands, which could be fulfilled through political agreement, raised by Tarai-Madhes-centric parties. The Rastriya Prajatantra Party Nepal (RPP-N) Chairman Thapa stated that his party joined the government for consolidating country's democracy and nationality without incurring any damages to its ideology and philosophy. He called on the party cadres to get involved in the campaign to strengthen party's organisation.
