25 amendment proposals on Constitution Amendment Bill

KATHMANDU: The Parliament received as many as 25 amendment proposals on the Bill on First Amendment of Constitution of Nepal from lawmakers. The Parliament had set a deadline of 5 pm on Thursday to register amendment proposals. The House is currently holding a discussion over the Bill. While lawmakers from the main opposition Nepali Congress and the ruling coalition partner UCPN-Maoist have registered multiple proposals, no any lawmaker from the Prime Minister's party CPN-UML has proposed any amendment. NC leaders Bimalendra Nidhi, Farmullah Mansoor and Minendra Prasad Rijal have registered separate proposals with the support from other lawmakers of their party. Members of some other fringe parties have registered other proposals.
