BIRGUNJ: CPN Maoist Coordinator Matrika Yadav charged that both the government and the agitating United Democratic Madhesi Front were indulged in promotion of smuggling instead of resolving the ongoing crisis in the wake of agitation in Tarai-Madhes region. Though five months have passed since the start of the agitation, Yadav said, both the sides are staging a drama. He was addressing a mass meeting at Ghantaghar area of Birgunj. According to him, the government and the UDMF polarised the people of Pahad and Madhes respectively, and promoted smuggling and mafiadom in the country. Yadav, who is also the leader of Sanyukta Madhesi Rastriya Andolan Samiti, claimed that the UDMF leaders were behind massive smuggling (of fuel and daily essentials) after they sat for dharna to obstruct Nepal-India border in Birgunj. Birgunj has been one of the hotspots of Tarai agitation.
