By Himalayan News Service

Bajura, May 2 A three-year strategic plan has been prepared with the aim of improving the health condition of the residents of Bajura district. The plan was prepared with the initiative of UNICEF, Nepal Health Institute and District Health Office, Bajura. VDC Secretaries of the district, representatives from various political parties, health workers, journalists and civil society members, among others, were also present when the plan was prepared. Dr Mohan Nath, chief of Bajura District Health Office, said the plan comprised mechanisms to improve the health condition of the residents of Bajura. “The planning includes measures to make vaccination drives, safe delivery service and free health service, among others, effective,” he informed. Senior Assistant Nursing Mid-wife at the DHO Sharmila Shah, said the plan would tremendously help improve women’s health in the district. The women in the district lose their lives pre-maturely due to lack of parturition service. The poor health condition of Bajura locals is usually attributed to the district’s difficult terrain. Though the government had announced the provision of free health facility nine years ago, it has yet to be implemented in the district. Health officer at UNICEF Mina Thapa said the strategic plan was prepared to provide better health service among the district residents. Bajura Chambers of Commerce and Industry Chairman Dev Bahadur Rokaya said the locals would only benefit from the plan if it was effectively implemented.
