Fugitive arrested, sent to jail for execution of sentence

KATHMANDU: Nepal Police's Central Investigation Bureau of Nepal Police said on Monday it arrested an absconding homicide convict from Raktakali of Kathmandu. The fugitive has been identified as Pratap Bajracharya (54), permanent resident of Raktakali, KMC-18, police said. On August 14, 2006, the Supreme Court had convicted him of fatally beating his wife and slapped a jail term of two years and Rs 500 penalty on Bajracharya. He had thrashed his wife Chhaya Bajracharya, on September 20, 1996 which led to her death nine days after, according to police. Bajracharya was on the run after the apex court verdict. After his arrest, Bajracharya was presented before the Kathmandu District Court which sent him to the Central Jail, Sundhara, for the execution of sentence, police said.
