KATHMANDU:  The UCPN-Maoist has decided to unite with different Maoist parties, including the CPN-Revolutionary Maoist (CPN-RM), that broke away from it in the past. A Standing Committee meeting of the party held at the residence of party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal at Lazimpat took the decision in this regard today. The UCPN-Maoist took the decision on the basis of ongoing discussions between the two parties regarding unity. It has been learned that a group close to General Secretary Ram Bahadur Thapa of the CPN-RM is keen to unite with the UCPN-Maoist immediately while the group close to Chairman Mohan Baidya has not reached to any conclusion yet. UCPN-Maoist General Secretary Krishna Bahadur Mahara said that  the party's central committee meeting has been called for May 14 to take the decision regarding political, ideological and organisational issues for the unification with the CPN-RM. There are different parties under the leadership of Baidya, Netra Bikram Chand, Mani Thapa and Matrika Yadav who had severed ties with the UCPN-Maoist. READ ALSO CPN-RM’s fate to be decided by May 16
