White House beat PYC in Amrit Trophy final

Kathmandu, September 19:

Rabindra Maharjan scored 16 points as Himalayan White House International College defeated Public Youth Campus 58-24 in the final of the third Amrit Trophy Open Basketball Championship 2005, organised by ATB Organising Committee under the auspices of Free Student Union of Amrit Science College, here today.

The winners received Rs 40,000 and Rs 20,000 respectively. Anil Maharjan was declared the Most Valuable Player and Rabindra Maskey was adjudged the best defensive player. Both the White House College players earned Rs 5,000 each. In all, 16 teams took part in the event.

TU Rector Prof Dr Mahendra Singh, NSU president and chief coordinator of the event Tek Raj Pachhai, ASCOL Campus chief Madan Shakya, vice president of Nepal Basketball Association Tendy Sherpa, TU vice Dean Ashok Koirala gave away prizes.

Meanwhile, Myagdi defeated BBST in the final of the Plus Thirty-five Basketball Tournament, organised jointly by ATB organising Committee and Kathmandu District Basketball Association. In all, four team took part in the event. Former Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolis Keshav Sthapit gave away prizes to the winners.
