FSU office catches fire

KATHMANDU:

The office of the Free Students’ Union at Tribhuvan University in Kirtipur caught fire early on Wednesday damaging property worth Rs 40,000, the police said. The officials of the Free Students’ Union (FSU) blamed the government for the blaze saying that the fire had been lit deliberately to distract students’ attention away from their protests against the unfair allocation of hostel rooms. — HNS

6 drug peddlers held

KATHMANDU:

The Narcotic Drug Control Law Enforcement Unit (NDCLEU), New Baneshwor on Tuesday arrested six persons in possession of 300 grams of brown heroin from Jadibuti, Koteswor. Those arrested were Bishnu Shrestha of Ramechhap, Arjun Limbu of Jhapa, Sher Bahdur Limbu of Morang, Megh Bahadur Gurung of Lamjung, and Lilawati Gurung and Kishan Siwakoti of Bhaktapur, NDCLEU said. — HNS
