Chitwan, August 24 Bio engineering work is under way to prevent frequent landslips along the Narayangadh-Muglin road section. This year’s bio -ngineering work being conducted at places that are vulnerable to mudslides has reached the final stage. Narayangadh-Muglin Road Project said the work will be carried out again next summer. Environmental Inspector Engineer Dinesh Ghimire, of Consultant Company of the Narayangadh-Muglin Road Section Project, said the bio-engineering work was completed in an area of 1,600 square metres. According to him, different species of grass, including dubo were planted on the inside and outside of an underground bridge at Aanptari area to facilitate the movement of livestock after the bio engineering work was completed. Bio engineering works were carried out at Gaighat, Bhorle, Riddikhola, Bhalukhola, Jalbire, and Muglin areas. Different grass plants including dubo, kaash, aank and simali were planted at those places. Ghimire said bio engineering helps control soil erosion and landslides and also maintains greenery on the roadside. “This year, we used local plants for bio-engineering. But, we shall set up a nursery to grow the plants for the work next year,” Ghimire added.
