Five Nepalis killed in cloudburst in northern India's Shimla

KATHMANDU: Five members of a Nepali family were reportedly killed after a cloudburst wreaked hovoc on their shelter in a village in Shimla district of the northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh.
According to media reports, only one person of the family, a 12-year-old boy who cannot hear and speak, has survived after the family's shelter was washed away by the cloudburst.
The incident took place in the wee hours of Friday morning at the hilltop in Bandrali village, near the town of Rampur.
'The bodies of all five deceased have been recovered with the help of the local people and one 12-year-old physically challenged boy survived,' Press Trust of India quoted Shimla deputy Commissioner, Rohan Chand Thakur, as saying.
The head of the family has been identified as one Lachhi Ram, who died along with his wife and three of their children. The lone survivor has been admitted to a hospital, Thakur told IANS.
Media reports, however, have not said anything about the victims' address in Nepal.
Also, it is not clear that if they are Nepalis by citizenship or Indian nationals of Nepali origin.
The family reportedly was staying in a temporary hut and worked for an apple orchard in the village.
