Flood, landslide displace nine households in Tanahun

LAMJUNG/TANAHUN: As many as nine households have been displaced after a landslide with debris swept away by a flooded stream in Risti VDC-8 of Tanahun district buried their houses in the wee hours of Wednesday. While two houses were completed destroyed and six houses were partially damaged in the landslide on the bank of local Thadi stream, which borders Tanahun and Lamjung districts. The houses of Purushottam Regmi and Harimaya Khatri were completely buried by the debris in the disaster. Local Chandra Bahadur Basaula, who was out in the midnight for defection, said he had heard a loud sound before waking his family members up to move to safety. Meanwhile, no human casualty was reported in the incident, added police. Nepal Police and Armed Police Force personnel have been deployed to rescue the victims in the area.
