KATHMANDU: National Banking Institute (NBI) is holding Asian Pacific Association of Banking Institutes (APABI) conference for the very first time in Nepal. APABI, founded in 1986, is an international conglomeration of banking academia of over 30 countries of Asia and Pacific region, as per a press statement. As the chair of APABI for 2016 and 2017, NBI is hosting APABI conference on September 22 and 23 in the Capital. The theme of the conference is ‘Best Practices in Banking and Financial Industry’s Talent Development in Asia-Pacific’ and is expected to see participation of chairmen and CEOs of banking academia of member countries and foreign experts from the banking industries. Chiranjibi Nepal, governor of Nepal Rastra Bank, is expected to inaugurate the event, which will be followed by presentations of highly experienced and seasoned bankers Ram Kumar, former executive director of ICICI Bank and Anil K Khandelwal, chairman of Khandelwal Committee and former MD of Bank of Baroda. The programme will also have a panel discussion wherein executives of Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, India and Pakistan will be leading the discussions.
