KATHMANDU: Nepal today signed a memorandum of understanding with the Korean government to work jointly for the post-quake reconstruction and health facilities in Nuwakot district of central Nepal. Secretary at the Ministry of Finance, Shantaraj Subedi, signed the MoU with Korean Ambassador to Nepal Yong-Jin Choe in order to aid the quake survivors in the district. According to the MoU, the two governments would work to provide necessary health services by reconstructing the District Hospital in Bidur Municipality and health posts in different VDCs of the district. The project would be implemented by UNDP, KOICA, Good Neighbours International (GNI) and GIZ. Among them, UNDP would oversee the safe demolition and debris management, GIZ would look after improving and strengthening of Health Management Information System and GNI would be responsible for normalising health service delivery and increasing capacity building for health workers. Apart from the aid provided by the Korean government after the devastating earthquakes of April and May 2015, it had also pledged additional support of USD 10 million at the International Donor Conference on June 25 last year.
