KATHMANDU: As Nepal is all set to celebrate two of its biggest festivals Dashain and Tihar, four winners of Miss Nepal 2016 pageant are preparing to represent the country in different international pageants in October and November. A press meet held at Hotel Annapurna, Durbar Marg on October 6, to bid farewell to these winners, informed about Nepal’s participation in the international pageants. Miss Nepal World Asmi Shrestha, Miss Nepal Earth Roshani Khatri, Miss Nepal International Barsha Lekhi, and Miss Friendship Anshu KC will represent Nepal in the international pageants — Miss World, Miss Earth, Miss International and Miss Asia Pacific International respectively. Khatri and KC will leave for Manila and Palawan of the Philippines on October 7 and November 14 to participate in Miss Earth and Miss Asia Pacific International respectively. Lekhi will head to Japan on October 9 to take part in Miss International, and Shrestha will fly to Washington DC, US on November 26 to participate in the Miss World. Gopal Sundar Lal Kakshapati, Chairman of The Hidden Treasure informed, “Each year we send three winners to participate in the international pageants. Miss Asia Pacific International has been resumed from this year, and the organisers contacted us to send our participant. Therefore, we are sending Anshu KC for the pageant as she is one of the title winners of Miss Nepal 2016.” Miss Asia Pacific International was last held in 2006. All these four winners have gone through extensive training to prepare for the international pageants, as per Kakshapati. “They have been provided with the best trainings that are available in the country, covering wide range of topics,” he informed. In the talent round of their respective competitions, Shrestha will showcase a dance performance — a fusion of classical and modern music, KC also plans to showcase dance on a folk song, Khatri will sing an English song, and Lekhi is set to perform a Jhyaure dance to the song Hijo Rati. A short documentary featuring the three winners’ contribution to change society was also showcased at the event.
