KATHMANDU: Hundreds of people on Saturday held a rally from Maitighar to Naya Baneshwor of Kathmandu urging the government to immediately respond to demands raised by Dr Govinda KC of the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital. Dr KC has been staging a fast-unto-death at the TUTH for last 21 days demanding various reforms in Nepal's medical education sector. Naya Shakti Nepal Coordinator and former Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai had also joined the event. Meanwhile, Dr KC is likely to break the fast today as the Tribhuvan University responded to his demand about appointing the Institute of Medicine Dean on the basis of seniority. Prof Dr Jagadish Prasad Agrawal had been appointed the Dean earlier today.
