Kathmandu, December 16 Indian duo Siddharath Thakur and Abhishek Yelegar advanced to the men’s singles final of the Yonex Sunrise Nepal International Badminton Series here at the National Sports Council covered hall today. In the semi-finals, Thakur saw off Duc Phat Le of Vietnam 21-19, 21-18, while his countryman Yelegar defeated Cao Cuong Pham, also from Vietnam, 21-13, 6-21, 21-16. Thuy Linh Nguyen of Vietnam beat Aghaei Hajiagha Soraya of Iran 21-17, 21-6 to enter the women’s final along with Indonesia’s Devi Yunita Indah Sari, who beat Vietnam’s Thi Phuong Thuy Tran 21-17, 21-16. In the men’s doubles, MR Arjun and Shlok Ramchandran beat their Indian teammates Arun George and Saurabh Sharma 21-10, 21-18, while Pakistani pair of Rizwan Azam and Sulhri Kashif Ali saw off India’s Anil Kumar Raju and Gaurav Prasad Venkat 21-15, 25-23 to sail into the final. Similarly, Anoushka Parikh and Harika Veludurthi of India defeated Aghaei Hajiagha Sorya of Iran and Devi Yunita Indah Sari of Indonesia 21-16, 21-13 to reach the women’s doubles final. The Indian pair of Jakkhampudi Meghana and Poorvisha Ram recorded a 21-8, 21-15 win against Bangladesh’s Aktar Shapla and Alina Sultana to set up all-India final. Indian pairs of Gaurav Prasad Venkat and Juhi Dewangan as well as Saurabh Sharma and Anoushka Parikh reached to the mixed doubles final. All the final matches will be played on Saturday.
