KATHMANDU: Chief Secretary Dr Somlal Subedi said that although legal structures were adequate to prevent injustice against women, there were challenges in the implementation part. Subedi said so while addressing a workshop on violence against women, oranised by the Ministry of Women, Children and Social Welfare in Kathmandu on Friday. Subedi also stated that women's participation in politics was encouraging, but it could not be localised. Stressing on decentralisation, he urged for everyone's focus on empowering the women at the grassroots. Likewise, Bishnu Prasad Lamsal, Secretary at the Ministry of Women, Children and Social Welfare, said that all organisations and state organs must be responsible in mitigating violence against women. Representatives from the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Home Affairs and organisations working in the campaign on violence against women participated in the workshop.
