Rajbiraj, December 30 Senior CPN-UML leader Madhav Kumar Nepal today said his party was not against Madhes. Inaugurating a two-day health camp organised by Nepal Doctors’ Association at Kharchuhiya of Khojpur VDC today, Nepal said his party was not anti-Madhes. Likening UML’s relationship with Madhes as that between Hindu mythical characters Krishna and Sudama, he said UML could never be anti-Madhes. The former prime minister also stressed on conservation of Chure for the development of Madhes. “Chure should be protected to protect Madhes,” he said, adding that destruction of Chure forests would directly affect Tarai-Madhes. Locals were asked to register their names for health check-up to be conducted during a free health camp tomorrow. Meanwhile, leaders and cadres of Madhes-based parties obstructed vehicular movement in Shambhunath Municipality of Saptari for an hour to protest against the UML leader’s visit. Security was beefed up along the east-west highway in the district since early this morning to avert any untoward incident. Security personnel had escorted Nepal to the programme venue.
