Dance bar raided

KATHMANDU: A police team from the Janasewa Ward Police Office on Tuesday night raided the X-bar at Sundhara and apprehended 27 people including the owner of the bar, Stalin Sherchan. According the police, 24 among the arrested are girls. “They are arrested as anti-social activities were being conducted in the bar,” said a police official at the Kathmandu District Police Office, Hanumandhoka. The police also got permission from the Kathmandu

District Court to keep them in custody for seven days for further investigation. — HNS

FNJ flays govt

KATHMANDU: The Federation of Nepalese Journalists on Wednesday condemned the government for seizure of newspapers by plainclothes policemen in Sindhulimadi. According to a press release issued by the FNJ, police seized copies of Janadabab weekly from news stands at Sindhulimadi on Wednesday. — HNS

Civil aviation seminar

KATHMANDU: State Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Yangkila Sherpa on Wednesday inaugurated a day-long seminar on civil aviation. Minister Sherpa said good coordination among airlines companies, Civil Aviation Authority and employees of the airport is necessary to provide reliable and comfortable air services. The seminar was organised by the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal. Various officials associated with the sector expressed their views on solving the problems of air services and providing safe, comfortable and regular air services. — RSS
