KATHMANDU: A three-year-old minor drowned in a pond at Terohata of Rupani Rural Municipality-5 in Saptari district on Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as Deepika Chaudhary, daughter of Amrika Devi of the RM.

Police suspect that Chaudhary might have drowned in the pond while playing.

Chaudhary’s mother had gone to her parent’s home to celebrate the Rakshabandhan festival August 7, leaving the child with her family, said police.

Her body has been brought to the Rajbiraj-based Gajendra Narayan Singh Sagarmatha Zonal Hospital for a post-mortem.

Police are investigating the case.
