PTC provides relief

Chitwan, August 29 Tourism entrepreneurs from Pokhara have distributed relief worth over Rs 20 million to flood victims in different places in Chitwan. The relief was distributed under the banner of PTC (Pokhara Tourism Council) Natural Disaster Support Committee. According to committee coordinator Ganesh Bahadur Bhattarai, victims of Jitpur, Golaghat, Madi and Patihani in Chitwan, and victims of Susta in Nawalparasi, were provided relief in the past four days. Most of the victims in the district were from Chepang, Kumal and Tharu settlements. PTC chairperson Kedarnath Sharma described the relief distribution as a ‘small help’ to victims. “The families that survived the floods are faring badly, we attempted to heal their wounds,” he said, adding that relief was distributed in coordination with the local administration. Speaking at a programme organised to distribute relief to victims in Patihani’s Simalgairi in Bharatpur metropolis-13 today, Mayor Renu Dahal expressed gratitude for the PTC’s assistance. “We are thankful to PTC for help in time of need,” she said, lamenting the losses incurred due to floods in the district. During the programme, PTC General Secretary Krishna Bhandari informed about the committee’s plan to help the victims in Saptari and Banke.
