Nepalgunj, January 21:

Yesterday’s Maoist attacks on the BP-chowk based security check post, Jamunaha Police Post and the Customs Office have left the locals terrified, even as the chief district officer of Banke, Binod Adhikari, said security has been beefed up in the area following the attacks.

While six policemen were killed, four policemen and a civilian were injured in the simultaneous attacks.

Recalling the attacks, Ishwor Gautam, a restaurant-owner, said: “I could not sleep the whole night.”

The Maoists had attacked the police and security posts after gheraoing them.

The house of a local, Nanda Kishor Mishra, was damaged in a blast. There were no damages in the Customs Office, security sources said, adding that a search to nab the Maoists was underway.

Maoists had attacked three different places simultaneously at 6 pm in the evening.
