After years of raising donkeys, an old farmer discovered that one was unusually intelligent. Remembering stories of horses learning to add and subtract by stomping their hooves, and knowing that this donkey was so much smarter than any horse, he went one step further and taught him to multiply and divide, as well. The farmer was positive that the public would pay to see this amazing donkey, so he sold his farm and went on the road, renting booths at fairs to show off the animal’s mental prowess.

Unfortunately, he could never find customers who wanted to see his donkey perform. It seems he learned the hard way that nobody likes a smart ass.
