NOC inks agreement with Korean Energy

Kathmandu, November 6 Nepal Olympic Committee and Korea South East Power Company (KOEN) reached the agreement to support Nepali athletes in next year’s Winter Olympic Games. NOC President Jeevan Ram Shrestha and Korean Energy vice-president Youn Eui-Joong exchanged the memorandum of understanding here today. As per the agreement, KOEN would provide Nepali athletes with $10,000 to prepare and compete in the Winter Olympic Games to be held in PyeongChang from February 9-25 next year. Eui-Joong said he was delighted to get the opportunity to help Nepali athletes for the Winter Olympic Games. “Korean Energy has a long-standing friendship with Nepal and we are happy to support Nepali athletes in the PyeongChang Games. We are ready to extend whatever support we can for Nepali athletes and delegation,” added Eui-Joong. NOC President Shrestha informed currently two athletes were preparing for the Winter Olympic Games and the support from KOEN was highly appreciated. “We are grateful to KOEN for the support and we also hope to get support for next year’s Asian Games and the South Asian Games which we are hosting in 2019,” said Shrestha. Nepal are taking part in Alpine Ski and Cross Country in the Winter Olympics and athletes Safal Ram Shrestha and Mani Kala Rai are taking part in FIS Races to get qualified for the Games.
