DHANKUTA: CPN-UML has registered a clean sweep in Dhankuta. In the parliamentary elections, the UML's Rajendra Rai has defeated Sunil Bahadur Thapa of Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Democratic. Rai secured 37,333 votes compared to Thapa's 26,774. The UML has also won both the provincial seats in the district. The UML's Indra Mani Parajuli won the Provincial Constituency (A), while Niran Rai took the Provincial Constituency (A).
