Kathmandu, December 10 Nepal Golf Association is organising the sixth edition of the CMS Faldo Series Nepal Championship here at the Gokarna Golf Club from Monday. The three-day event features three categories — boys’ U-21, boys’ U-16 and girls’ sections, informed NGA Treasurer Kishan Agrawal at a press meet today. A total of 30 golfers, including 26 boys and four girls, from Kathmandu, Dharan and Pokhara along with two golfers from India will compete in the event. Defending champions Sukra Bahadur Rai (boys’ U-21) and Pratima Sherpa (girls’) will also compete in the event. The winners of all three categories will earn tickets to Faldo Series Asia Grand Finale to be held in Vietnam in March next year. Players from 38 countries will take part in the finale. Agrawal also informed that top 10 golfers from the tournament will be selected for closed camp training to be conducted by national team coach and NGA advisor Kim Baldwin from December 14-25. “We will pick up two best golfers after the camp and they will join national team for further training for the 13th South Asian Games to be hosted by Nepal in 2019,” said the NGA Treasurer. The Championship is sponsored by International Society for Medical Studies (ISME) Pvt Ltd, which has been supporting the NGA with the Junior Golf Training Programme in Kathmandu, Dharan and Pokhara.
