2 dead as jeep plunges 300m in Panchthar

PHIDIM: Two persons have lost their lives in a jeep accident in Oyam, Yangwarak Rural Municipality-3 of Panchthar district. The deceased have been identified as Prabesh Yongya (18) and Sandeep Yongya (16) of Yangwarak Rural Municipality. The incident occurred when the jeep (Ga 1 Ja 8085) fell 300 metres below the road at around midnight yesterday. In the accident, Balaram Yongya (12), Prakash Yongya (12), Pradeep Rai (17), Laxman Rai (17), Manoj Gurung (24), and Bishal Yongya (16) of the same area, have been seriously injured. The injured were referred to Jhapa-based B&C Hospital after their treatment was not possible in Panchthar Hospital. Most of them have been injured in the heads and backs, and therefore their conditions have been cited serious. The cause of the accident has not been known yet, according to Panchthar District Police Office. Further investigation into the case is underway.
