Nuwakot, March 26:

The Ministry of Local Development (MoLD) has annulled the oath of office taken by the ward chairmen conducted by deputy mayor Kul Bahadur Khadki saying that it is against the Local Self-governance Act. With this, the month-long conflict among the personnel of Bidur municipality, which had resulted in a halt to all functions of the municipality, has come to an end.

Khadki had conducted the programme on February 1 in the absence of the mayor. The MoLD today asked for a re-swearing-in programme annulling the earlier one in a letter faxed from the section of law of the ministry.Khadki had conducted the swearing-in function as per the Act that allows deputy mayors to conduct the function in the absence of the mayor.

Khadki had initiated the move accusing Mayor Thakur Prasad Gajurel of not fixing the swearing-in date of the ward chairmen even a month after their appointment.
