Nepalgunj, February 15 Nepal APF Club and Shivam New Diamond Academy won the inaugural day matches of the fifth Prime Minister Cup International Women’s Volleyball Tournament at the Nepalgunj Stadium courts today. The departmental side defeated Ifat Women’s Volleyball Club of Bangladesh in straight sets. APF conceded nine and seven points respectively in the first two sets, while they won 25-11 in the third set. In another match, NDA registered a 25-19, 25-14, 27-25 victory over departmental side Nepal Police Club. A total of six teams are taking part in the tournament organised by Banke District Volleyball Association. APF, Ifat and hosts’ team are in Group A, while NDA, NPC and Sports Trainees team from Dehradun, India are in Group B. Top two teams from both the pools will make it to the semi-finals of the leage-cum-knockout tournament. Top three teams will receive Rs 200,000, Rs 100,000 and Rs 50,000 respectively. Earlier, Miss Nepal Nikita Chandak, Member of Parliament Nanda Lal Rokaya, Mid-western Regional Sports Development Committee President Bhim Oli, President of Banke District Volleyball Association TS Thakuri and Treasurer of Nepal Olympic Committee Ratan Tandon inaugurated the tournament.
