Hetauda, April 6 Tika Lama was unanimously elected as the president of Makawanpur District Football Association here today. The annual general assembly which was held after series of disputes, elected a 13-member committee under Lama’s leadership. Subin Ghimire, Ajay Manadhar and Raj Kumar Shrestha were elected as the vice-presidents, while Yunal Malla, Amrit Lungwa, Sanjay Kumar Maharjan, Rajendra Kumar Shrestha, Atul Barma, Bimal Shrestha, Manish Shrestha, Chhabi Subedi and Sushila Aryal were elected as members. All Nepal Football Association’s joint General Secretary Sanjib Mishra was the observer of the assembly. The assembly was originally scheduled for January 19 but the ANFA’s Vice-president Mani Kunwar, who had been assigned to observe the election, postponed that because of disputes. Makawanpur FA came under scrutiny after a group of representatives held the elections and Lama was elected the president. A numbers of clubs protested against the assembly and the ANFA did not give recognition to the elections. After the ANFA was certain to exclude them in the elective general assembly slated for March 28, Makwanpur FA’s Senior Vice-president Manish Shrestha and Bhaktapur FA President Gautam Sujakhu moved the Patan High Court against the AGM of football governing body. The ANFA then postponed the elective general assembly after the court ordered it not to hold the elections without including the two FAs and the football governing body is yet to announce the new dates. Meanwhile, Mishra informed that the general assembly of Bhaktapur FA would be held on April 10.
