Kathmandu, May 13 Nepal Police Headquarters has encouraged all to register their complaints and grievances, if any, with respect to the conduct of police employees. A public notice issued by the NP Headquarters today informed that a hotline service was established for receiving and hearing public grievances. “Any person can directly dial the numbers (01-4410144 or toll-free short code number 1113) of the headquarters to register his/her complaints or grievances related to police employees,” it read. It follows the alleged involvement of some police personnel in financial indiscipline and anti-police conducts. The concerned person may alert the grievance redressal mechanism of the headquarters if he/she is denied police services, police employees are indifferent towards their duties and FIR is not entertained or registered and falsified complaint is registered.  The notice said that complaints made be made against anti-police conduct of on-duty personnel, pretentious criminal investigation, holding in extra-judicial custody, arrest of innocent persons without prima facie evidence to support a case, bribery and coercion to extract confession. It is a 24×7 hotline and complaints and grievances may be lodged any time. According to the notice, the headquarters has designated responsible police officers for the redressal of complaints registered with the hotline. The complaints will be forwarded to the concerned unit for necessary action in a procedural manner on the basis of gravity of the complaints. If the authenticity of the complaint against any cop is  verified through necessary investigation, the guilty will be liable to departmental or legal action as per the degree of the offence. The headquarters said that it would communicate back to concerned complainants via SMS or email about proceedings of the complaint.
