Kathmandu, March 15:

The Nepal Independent Dalit Students’ Organisation has decided to organise its third national conference on the premises of the Balmeeki Bidhyapeeth at Bhrikuti Mandap on Friday and Saturday.

“The Dalit students will make historic decisions during the third national conference to intensify the movement for the formation of a constituent assembly and democratic republican setup,” said Bal Krishna Achhami, convener of the National Conference Organising Committee.

Senior human rights leader Padma Ratna Tuladhar has agreed to inaugurate the conference, Achhami said. Dalit leaders from various political parties and leaders of eight students unions will address the inaugural function.

The conference will make decisions on moves to be taken to intensify the movement against monarchy, which is considered a hurdle on the path of Dalit liberation. “Besides, the meet will make historic decisions on various problems plaguing Dalit students,” Achhami said.
