POKHARA: A Pokhara-based savings and credit cooperative has been robbed on Sunday night. Unidentified person(s) reportedly made a forced entry into Janaekata Saving & Credit Cooperative Ltd, located at Srijanachok in Pokhara Metropolitan City-8 and made away with cash worth Rs 900,000, informed Sunil Pandey of the credit cooperative. The incident came into light when the broken lock was noticed on Monday morning, during office opening time. It has been learnt that only the cash was found missing; nothing else seemed out of place. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and Spokesperson at Kaski District Police Office, Rabindra Man Gurung, shared information based on preliminary investigation. He said, some weaknesses were noticed on the part of the cooperative, such as the office being operated from within a small shutter, lack of CCTV camera in the office, the cash being left inside a drawer, and the cooperative remaining open till 7:30 in the evening, two and a half hours later than closing time. He added that police were looking into the footage from CCTV placed on the roads to try and find the person(s) involved in the theft. An increase in number of theft cases has been noted in Pokhara in the last one month.
