Pant to head ERDI
KATHMANDU: Bishnu Dev Pant has been appointed as the director at Division of Development Indicators & Policy Research (ERDI) at Asian Development Bank, Manila. The appointment is to become effective from April 2. ERDI serves as the focal point for strengthening statistical capacities of developing member countries in the Asia and pacific region and for strengthening global partnerships to meet long term data needs. Pant joins the elit list of Nepalis who are serving in such high positions at international organisations.— HNS
VAT defaulters’ list
BUTWAL:Registration of 87 trade enterprises and taxpayers would be suspended for not paying Value Added Tax (VAT) for six months, Inland Revenue Office, Bhairahawa has informed. The IRO has published the names of 87 organisation that have not cleared VAT dues. Shivam Oil Centre, Triveni Distillery, Triveni Overseas, Tanya Garment, Madhav Suppliers, Divya Nimang Suppliers and Lumbini Business Centre have been listed. — RSS
Egg export to India
CHITWAN: As demand for eggs soar in Indian markets, poultry entrepreneurs have started exporting eggs to India. Demand had risen earlier because of bird flu. More than 800,000 eggs are produced daily in Chitwan and about 25 per cent of are exported to India said, businessman Chandra Man Shrestha. — RSS
Production falls
NUWAKOT: A total of 104,660 metric tonnes of foodgrains, fruits and vegetables have been produced in Nuwakot District in fiscal year 2004-05. The district needs a total of 237,000 metric tonnes of food, fruits and vegetables every year, the District Agriculture Office informed. This means a deficit of 132,340 metric tonnes over the year . — RSS
