MIDWAY: Opportunities galore

MIDWAY: Opportunities galore

By Nilkantha Adhikari

Are you really looking for an opportunity? It’s only those who have failed and stopped seeking opportunity promote the idea that it knocks “only once”! Do you think opportunity is nowhere or opportunity is now here?

Everything good that happens is an opportunity we have found. Everything bad that happens is an opportunity waiting to be discovered. Some transform disturbance into a positive event while the others react in anger. For those who react to every difficulty, opportunity is now here.

Wouldn’t it be great if we had opportunity detectors? Imagine the device alerting us every time an opportunity was nearby. But do we have opportunity detectors? Certainly yes. They are called discomfort and fear. To increase my happiness, I will have to do things that I am not doing now. And what is it that I do now? Isn’t it whatever I am comfortable doing? Don’t we avoid making an effort, experiencing discomfort, and facing fear? That is the mistake we make. Opportunity is always close by, yet just out of reach. Daily we get hundreds of opportunities when we make choices. To take advantage of the power of choice, it is a good idea to review our decisions. Don’t trivialise the importance of the smallest decisions, for small opportunities add up to big ones.

Talent alone won’t make you successful. Neither will being in the right place at the right time, unless you are ready. The most important question is: ‘Are your ready?’ Are you ready to stop talking and start listening? Are you ready to choose between realising your dreams and realising your fears?

Still, there are so many people who never miss an opportunity. Those who complain of lack of opportunity have no goals. Opportunity comes not only by our willingness to strike while the iron is hot, but also by striking until the iron grows hot.

If you feel you are ready, then go out and grab an opportunity. If you say there is no luck then you’re making excuses. Finally, if you’ve got enough opportunity for finding an opportunity, I’ve nothing to do. It’s up to you whether you choose to read opportunity is nowhere or opportunity is now here. A chance may be waiting for you within the newspaper itself. Therefore, act right now. Best of luck!
