LONDON: British girl group Spice Girls have been voted the top cultural icon of the 1990s in a survey. According to contactmu-sic.com, the Spice Girls, formed in 1993 and disbanded in 2000, won 80 per cent of the votes and beat out competition from the likes of the late Nirvana lead singer Kurt Cobain, who committed suicide in 1994. The third most popular cultural icon was model-actress Elizabeth Hurley, who gained fame when she wore her safety pin Versace dress to the premiere of the movie Four Weddings And A Funeral.
