To give beautiful Nepali girls a chance to become famous, help them launch a career in modelling and fashion and recognise them for their beauty and poise, Nepal Lever Limited (NLL) and India Education Centre (IEC) are presenting ‘Lux Beauty Star’ for the first time in Nepal.To give more information about the event, the organising committee called a press conference at Soaltee Crown plaza today.

Opportunity knocks once in a lifetime and if you ever craved to become a star and experience the luxury of being noticed and admired: this is surely a golden chance. Rakesh Mohan, managing director, NLL, said: “For a girl even to come on the stage is a big opportunity. And via ‘Lux Beauty Star’ we are motivating them to come in the front. Our idea of this event is to make the girls feel good. We will be always organising this kind of event.”

The initial selections will be held at Dharan on April 17 at British Gorkha Hall, Pokhara on April 20 at Hotel Blue Bird and Kathmandu on April 24 at Hyatt Regency, all at 10 am. From Dharan and Pokhara five girls each will be chosen and from Kathmandu 10 girls will be selected for the final round of ‘Lux Beauty Star’ to be held on May 22 at Hyatt Regency, Kathmandu.

The selected 20 will be judged on looks, confidence and intelligence and they will win a 10-day stay at Hyatt Regency. During this stay they will be groomed on make-up, poise, walking with confidence, dressing, fashion and style. They will have an opportunity to listen to accomplished people talk on various subjects to help them enlarge their horizons. They will have an opportunity to practise with Nepal’s best choreographers and fashion designers to prepare for the grand show — Lux Beauty and Style Sensation. Each of the selected 20 girls will have her portfolio shot by leading fashion photographer Madhav Thapa. During these 10 days there will be a lot of exciting contests for the girls such as Lux Miss Photogenic, Lakme Girl of the evening, Miss Sunsilk Beautiful Hair, etc. On May 22, the girls will walk the ramp at Hyatt and present the latest fashion at a grand event. Their clothes will be designed by IEC. At the event, the Lux Beauty Star and runners-up will be announced. Lux Beauty Star will be awarded Rs 50,000 and the first runner-up gets Rs 25,000. In addition, the two winners will be awarded an opportunity to go to India to attend the ‘Lakme India Fashion Week 2005’.
